My 2nd TEDx Talk – Dress Rehearsal Day Experience

We are just 1 week away from my 2nd TEDx event! The event is Saturday May 14th, 2016.There is so much excitement in the air – just loving it! On Saturday May 7th, it was dress rehearsal day. The organizers had booked the venue so that all the speakers could say their talk, get all set up with the microphone, get a feel for the venue/lighting, know where we are supposed to be on stage as well as get feedback from the organizers.

After we all got to run through our talks, the organizer held a dinner at his house so we could all get to know each other.

Dress rehearsal day / dinner with fellow TEDx speakers was a GREAT experience and here’s why:

1.Saying your speech IN the venue makes a difference! It’s allows you to get familiar with the environment, lighting, microphone – less things to be worried about on event day.

2. Getting feedback from the organizers is necessary – their coaching allows the speakers to see what needs improvement. They all have a fantastic way of positively giving us advice.

3. Chatting with my fellow speakers over dinner allowed us to share stories, learn about each other, talk about what we are feeling about the big day and realize we are not alone. Doing a TEDx talk can be very nerve racking, and there are many emotions, fears and excitement leading up to the big day. We are all in the same boat and it helps to know that we all now have an extra group of new friends cheering us on!

I’d like to say a HUGE thank you to the TEDxKitchenerED organizers – it was a fantastic experience!
